What day is your birthday? September 9 th . Where were you born? New York City Are you Italian, and if you are, where do you trace your Italian roots? I am half Italian and half Irish. My dad's father came here from Giarre, Sicily Do you speak Italian or any other language? I speak a little Italian. How did you originally get involved with being an actor? I was a NYC cop. I took my first acting lesson at 29 after doing a play at a community theater. BTW, I made my Broadway debut at 52! What has been your most challenging role on screen? I played a killer, Bobby Fontino, in a movie made about the murder of a DEA agent on Staten Island, in the 1991 movie, "Dead and Alive: The Race for Gus Farace". Nobody on the project knew that I had worked with the murdered agent when I was in the police department. It was hard reliving that story. How do you think other people would describe you? Short, fat, nearly bald. What other unusual jobs have you held in the past? I was a NYC cop for 24 years. Tell us something that people don't know about you? I am a retired NYPD captain and former Marine. Although most people think l look tough, I really very sensitive. Do you have an official website? Do you have a profile on the social networking web site, MYSPACE? I am not on My Space as of now. What are your favorite websites? SopranoSue, ThirdWatch.net, Marines.TogetherWeServed.com What charities are you involved with? The Wounded Warriors Project, The Semper Fi Fund, The Fisher House Foundation. You're still on a deserted island; with no hope of a rescue. You are only allowed one of your favorite food dishes, one music cd and one piece of clothing, what would be your choices? Pasta Pesto, Frank Sinatra, The Capital Years, and Exofficio Boxer Shorts. Although I would really miss my Rocco Ciccarelli suits. You were in the pilot of the sopranos, when you originally filmed the pilot back in 1998, did you have any clue that the show would be such as success as it is today? You probably know I was in the second season as well. To answer the question, I didn't have a clue. But I did see great chemistry between the actors right away. That cast was an honor to be part of. They were all very giving actors. It was a pleasure to go to work. I wish I had gotten to do more. What was one of your favorite moments on the set of The Sopranos? There is always so much down time on a set. I really enjoyed the many quiet talks with Jim Gandofini, Vinny Pastore (Big Pussy), Tony Sirico (Paulie Walnuts), and Kathy Narducci (Charmaine Bucco). You were a technical consultant on F/X2 in 1991, what exactly did you do? I read the script and pointed out the entire BS! They hired me because of my knowledge of the NYPD. In the highly successful television show, “Third Watch”, you played the character of Lieutenant Bob Swersky. Are you as an individual anything like that character? The two most important women in my life, my fiancée and daughter said I was a lot like Swersky, demanding, hard around the edges, but with a big heart. What are some of your upcoming projects that we can look forward to seeing? I am going to shoot a scene with the very fine actor Philip Seymour Hoffman in the movie, “Synecdoche, New York ” this summer.
