One January 27, 2005 I attended Tsunami Benefit held at this fabulous club Crobar, in NYC. The show’s performers were Nancy Sinatra, Sandra Berhard (Gina, from The Sopranos season 2 episode “D-Girl”), and Cyndi Lauper. I was raised on Rock and Roll, so you already know how my musical tastes go.
Nancy Sinatra, opened the show and not for nothing, she was really good. I especially enjoyed the song, “Baby, Please Don’t Go”, which Steve Van Zandt (I guess Silvio Dante has a lot of free time in the back room of the Bada Bing) wrote for her new album, entitled “Nancy Sinatra”.
She also did the classic, “These Boots are for Walking”. My escort and I both agreed, if you have a chance to catch a live performance of hers, by all means go.
The part of the show, that I was waiting for was the encore, which featured, all the performers singing “These Boots are for Walking” including the Garage Girls-A-GO-GO, whom are Choreographed by Maureen Van Zandt. They truly are amazing to watch them dance with such confidence and prose.
