May 21, 2005, the place to be is Seaside Heights, New Jersey. But then again, any weekend a trip to the Jersey Shore is the thing to do and be seen.
This is the second year I have been in attendance for the ALS Walk to D'Feet for ALS, which was held in Seaside Heights, New Jersey The big news I had for this year was that my highly reliable source as usual was highly reliable. He had told me earlier in the week, that that another Sopranos actor, Vincent Pastore (Big Pussy), was also going to be in attendance.
Now if the highly reliable source would only give me some clues where the boys are going to be filming...
Last year’s event, which I attended, was a very special one. Last year, I had the very special opportunity to meet Jeff Marchetti's Uncle Blackie. Uncle Blackie, had been victimized by ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). Shortly after this event, Jeff 's Uncle passed on to a better place. This year's event was held in honor of Uncle Blackie.

A photo from last year's event. Max Casella (Benny Fazio), Tony Lip (Carmine Lupertazzi), Jeff Marchetti (Petey) and Uncle Blackie (VSU, Very Special Uncle). |
Irish Mafia and I showed up a little early. One of the things that I noticed right away was how much larger the crowd involved in the walking segment, was this year from last year.

This is a photo of some of the participants lining up to register for this event. Afterwards I heard rumors (I can't confirm this at this moment, the monetary figure is over the $100,000 range). |

Robert Iler (AJ Soprano) was one of the first Sopranos to arrive, even though I was pretty sure I say Vincent Pastore riding around, about 15 minutes prior to Robert's arrival. Robert's hair is longer than we've seen it it recent years, no word whether he is getting it cut for the filming of season 6 of The Sopranos. |
|
Next on the arrival list was Jeff Marchetti (Petey) and Max Casella (Benny Fazio). Even though it is almost Memorial Day weekend here, and the skies are clear, the temperature for today required a jacket. The walk was held on the Seaside Heights boardwalk, so there was a prevailing ocean breeze.

Friends of Vincent Pastore who lived in the vicinity showed up for the occasion, Nancy and Mitchell.

The ALS Foundation of Greater Philadelphia truly is grateful for all the support of the "Killers of The Sopranos" less AJ Soprano (give the poor kid a chance, his time will come), give to the organization. I heard these guys stayed to the very end, making sure that everyone there got an autographed anything (they ran out of baseballs that were donated by the Lakewood Minor League Baseball team, Blue Claws) |

Left to right, Jeff Marchetti, Max Casella, Robert Iler, and Vincent Pastore. I hope their hands are ready, their are a lot of people looking for autographs that were available for a nominal fee (like peanuts). |
Jeff Marchetti, plays the character of Petey. In season 5, he suggested someone call an ambulance after Eugene Pontecorvo (Robert Funaro) beat Little Paulie Germani (Carl Capotoro) at the construction site in Clifton.

I checked Vincent Pastore's shoes, they were dry. So even though on the show, he officially sleeps with the fishes, in reality Vincent arrived via vehicle, not by walking up from the beach. |
|
Max Casella's character Benny Fazio shot Stanley and Credenza in the final episode of Season 4 (what was that like 5 years ago). I was there that day when they filmed that and I have to admit that seeing someone get "wacked" on The Sopranos was probably one of the most exciting things I had ever seen. |

Vincent Pastore and Robert Iler. |

This guy here knows something, look how happy and excited when he is talking into that cell phone. |
